Since
1994, the biology laboratories from different Institutions located at
the Gerland area, in Lyon, have been organizing an annual two-day meeting
series to discuss new issues in developmental biology, genetics, immunology
and virology. These meetings promote the gathering of young and senior
scientists from Lyon and its neighborhood (Rhône-Alpes region and
the French speaking Switzerland). Since 2003, to strengthen their research
abilities and facilities as well as to develop new and original interactive
research programs, the Gerland biology laboratories gathered together
to form the Federative Research Institute (IFR128) "BioSciences
Lyon - Gerland". This IFR128 is composed of 59 research
teams, representing approximately 600 persons issued from 10 research
units located in close vicinity. Nine main research topics are studied
in the Institute, from developmental biology (animal and plant systems)
to the biology of immune system and infectious agents, including chromatin
and genome expression, cellular and tissular plasticity, molecular biocomputing,
structural biology and proteomics, cellular and viral oncogenesis, molecular
virology and gene therapy, pathogen agents of class 4. To celebrate the
1st anniversary of the IFR creation and 10th anniversary of "Journées
de Gerland", the 2004 organizing meeting committee proposes a special
seminar series focused on "Proteomics : New insights and prospects".
This meeting will be held at the Ecole Normale Superieure of Lyon, on
November 8-9 2004. |
