Notre recherche vise à comprendre la signification biologique des rétrovirus endogènes humains. Nous avons découvert la famille HERV-W dont l'expression varie quantitativement et qualitativement en fonction des contextes, physiologiques ou pathologiques. Cette famille contient en outre un locus codant pour une enveloppe impliquée dans la morphogénèse placentaire. La nature rétrovirale et cellulaire de ces éléments, leur abondance dans le génome, implique des approches virologiques, génétiques, cellulaires, immunologiques et bioinformatiques telles que développées dans l'IFR.
